Vitamin E works as an antioxidant to inhibit lipid peroxidation in biological membranes by scavenging free radicals. It is essential for us because the human body cannot produce the vitamin E and we must ingest it from foods and supplements.

 

Vitamin E is a family of eight lipid-soluble compounds that include four tocopherols (α,β,γ, and δ) and four tocotrienols.

Especially, the tocotrienol possesses 40‒60 times higher antioxidant activity than the tocopherol and thus the tocotrienol is called “Super Vitamin E”.

 

It is difficult to chemically synthesize the Super vitamin E. It has so far been extracted under high temperature (100‒250 ℃) condition and more than half of it was decomposed by heat.

Therefore, the super vitamin E is expensive and it is difficult to use it for functional foods and supplements.

We have developed a novel extraction method of the super vitamin E under the moderate condition of 50 ℃ utilizing ion exchange resin. We used only bioethanol as a solvent. It is a patented technology to efficiently extract the super vitamin E with energy consumption reduced by 95% compared with those of the conventional one.

Our technology makes it possible to provide the super vitamin E safely, reliably, and inexpensively.
